Dyed but not pleated

The dying is done and I'm off to see Warren. The color came out pretty close to what I wanted, certainly has the Bohemian feel to it.

Here I'm painting the dye on. I put all three layers at once, which turned out to be a hassle due to the relative dense chiffon. I had to separate the layers afterward and fill in the gaps.

Here the smocking is painted. Painting instead of immersing gives that uneven look. I don't know how to express how much I love fiber reactive dye. It's pure magic every time. If you haven't tried it yet, do! Okay, I'm off to the pleater...

  1. This is real artwork! I don't think I am ready yet for that. Still trying to get to grips with basic sewing. lol

I hope Mr pleater man doesn't take too long!

  3. Oh my goodness! After all the work put in, I would be scared to dye it!

It looks beautiful and I can't wait to see the final product.

  4. ok, call it vicodin brain - but if it's already smocked, what are you doing at the pleaters?
Do you have an outside resource pleating, or do you have your own pleater?
    Do I already know this?

  5. LOL Marji, vicodin brain, I think not! In another post I showed the BWOF skirt I decided to make, it's sunburst pleated. There's a commercial pleater in town, so I took the skirt there, it takes about a week. Thinking of you and hope for a speedy recovery.
