I made so many mistakes, so in the end, what was supposed to be a regular black coat, is now a jacket/coat with lace inserts, and the nap runs the wrong way...

The fabric is a black cashmere I got on sale at Fabric Mart back in March, the lining is silk charmeuse.
Whatever the issue was, you ended up with a wonderful coat. Would love to see a close up of the lace. It just makes this coat very special. More, please.
ReplyDeleteYour jacket turned out perfect! It looks fantastic!
ReplyDeleteWhen life gives you lemons... Necessity is the mother of invention et al. You pulled off a great coat and if you don't tell anyone they will only think how fabulous it is.
ReplyDeleteOh, it's beyond gorgeous! Really. My heart just cracked when I read "the nap runs the wrong way" - since I'm working on a cash-coat too, and, lucky me, was forewarrrrrrned. Your coat is inspired, and fabulous. Fab, really truly fab.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! I really like the lace... what a neat design!
ReplyDeleteA unique stunning coat.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful coat! Isn't it nice how the lace highlights design features ;)
ReplyDeleteWow that is stunning. I love how creative your clothes are.
ReplyDeleteThat is a stunning coat, I would never know you had issues with it. Great job.
ReplyDeleteFabulous design details - I really like the contrast and the piping where you joined the lining to the facing.
ReplyDeleteYou look stunning in your great coat. I like how you added those details.
ReplyDeleteThe lace adds a nice touch! Beautiful, once again!
ReplyDeleteI hope you don't let the problems ruin that beautiful coat for you. It looks fantastic.
ReplyDeleteHow can a nap run the wrong way if you are consistent in the direction throughout the garment?
ReplyDeleteIf the nap runs upwards, your coat will look darker. That was the effect you were after, right?
As always, you come up with such a creative garment. I never would have thought there is any 'mistake' in it. It's gorgeous and well planned.
ReplyDeleteI like how you modify garments to your taste. You are as usual so creative. I like the skirt as well. What an interesting fabric. Though I have been silent on your blog, I red most of your post since the Chanel suit for your gorgeous DD. Regards from Montreal. Anne
ReplyDeleteStunning coat. Can't see any mistakes from here! Love how it is all styled - cream and black, so chic.
