Chunks Of Randomness

Oscar de la Renta, glass pearl ribbon necklace

I've spent a small fortune. On supplies. And I'm not a jewelry maker. Cindy Ann warned me, but did I listen? Oh no... Three days were spent adding items to my cart at Firemountain Gems. You know, it's really Balmain's fault!! All that research into sparkle- you know how I love sparkle! So I guess I'll be making jewelry now. And - hopefully- so will DD 1. Like the title suggests, randomness will be involved on ALL levels. I'm a structured creature (no news to those of you who've been reading the blog/ reviews for a while) but I like to break it up in the accessory department.
The picture represents the idea not the product. I don't want to knockoff anything, just study and be inspired. Kinda like how I learned to sew. Time will tell if it will work this time. But at least I know how to use a magnifier :))

Off to rehearsal...

  1. Have you seen the posts at the Sewing Diva's blog? Georgene is doing something similar and I admit that I'm tempted to start (yet another) project and make a similar necklace. These jewelery pieces are just lovely.

  2. Can't wait to see your efforts. Based on the Balmain, they should be spectacular!

  3. I am tempted too, but everytime I start to price out what I want, it's just too expensive. But, I'll live vicariously through you. I'm looking forward to seeing what you come up with.

  4. That's a gorgeous necklace! Necklaces are my favorite jewelry. I really can't wear them to work because I wear a lanyard with keys around my neck. UGH! I'm waiting to see your cretions!

  6. Bwaaaaa.......Your link to my blog made me ashamed. I've not posted a word lately. Perhaps I'll show some of my jewelry creations this week. It's all I've worked on this past month though my results are still beginner level. My main focus has been wire wrapping and a bit of polymer clay work, but I'm itching to get some metal clay. Speaking of a small fortune.

  7. I wanted to thank you for your tips on fitting sleeves. I am just finishing up my jacket and I cut a muslin of the sleeves and fit them to my jacket shell. Success! I had to scoop out the front armhole of the jacket and then lower the underarm about 1/4". It is the most comfortable jacket that I've ever made myself. It not only looks like it fits, but it does fit!

  8. This necklace is beautiful. I'm not a jewelry maker so this project looks daunting to me. Looking forward to seeing it done.
