This Is It!

Think I've found a TNT dress, and it was a breeze to put together:

BWOF 02-2009-105

Fabrics and buttons from F & S. Fabrics, belt from Bloomies :)) I used sleeves from style 106.

Here's a close-up of the silver detail in the fabric- always a bit of sparkle, even when I don't look for it...

I'm also busy sewing skating dresses for DD. She just started and is totally in love with it, which makes this mom very happy. She used to do gymnastics but I got so scared I had to stop going. She's completely fearless and a bit of a klutz... you do the math. When she falls on the ice she's wearing kneepads, and the distance from her to the ice is not that great :)) Not yet anyway. We'll see how I feel if she advances and starts jumping and twirling at full speed...

-----

Thank you for all the nice comments on the other dress. And rest assured, the shoes will be worn with caution. I'm not the klutz in the family (see above), and take my heels very seriously :))

  2. Birgitte, I absolutely love this! It's so unexpected somehow, but so perfect. I love the way you've worked the fabric pattern in the front. The shoes, the belt, the fit, the whole concept works like a dream. It looks fantastic on you! And I wish smooth, joyful, upright skating for your DD!

  6. Hello Birgitte ! I had to look for the definition of a klutz... sounds like a German word... oh nightmare for me German class. ;-)
Looking at your sewing work, you are everything in life beside a klutz. Thank you for reassuring us about the other shoes, which beside looking dangerous are awesome. Of all shoes, those black ones on the pictures... ahhh pure beauty, nice heel and line. NIIIICCCCEEEE. Fabric wise, the b&w fabric with ze silver touch is Oh so beautiful. This is the perfect dress to be the best looking, best dressed mother picking up the coolest daughter in school. Needless to say that the daughter has a wonderful silver jacket and more. ;-) I will be dreaming of this fabric and about the matching work you put in front skirt. Great sewing project.

  7. Hello! Love the dress. I noticed all the dress patterns that I have been drawn lately have been shirtdresses. Might add this one to the list! You look fabulous. My kids are on the ice too--I feel better with my son in hockey because he gets the helmet!

  13. Really fabulous on you. To me it has more of an NYC look to it than LA...maybe it's the black and white—always popular colors here. Whatever, it's a stylish and sleek dress no matter where you are.

  18. I love it! And what's funny, I said exactly that same thing to Carolyn, the queen of the TNT dress, yesterday, about this same pattern. I'm just finishing up a version that has a black linen skirt and white embroidered dupioni top. And the fit is wonderful.
I love what you've done with yours. Very classy!
