Need Boucle?

5 yards/60 wide to be exact, and in one piece. It's gorgeous... coral pink, flesh, off-white, tan, gray, gold metallic... and deep, dark brown. That's right. Brown.

I bought it on Ebay and the description said Black. I don't wear brown. I like brown, just don't have anything in my wardrobe... shoes, tops, purses, belts you name it... Everything goes with black. It was advertised as a Chanel fabric, but who knows if that is true or not. To me it didn't matter, I just like it and it has the 'look' of Chanel. I think the content is mostly wool. It needs a dry cleaning cause it has a slightly musty smell as if it had been stored away for a while.

This fantastic piece (which I originally planned to use for my Chanel jacket) needs to find a new home. I had thought to make a long, Chanel-esque coat- think it would look stunning and the yardage is there, but a suit would be fab of course.

If you like Chanel and the colors suit your taste/style/preference, let me know, and I'll pay the shipping as well. I'm just not a stash-kinda-girl and would rather have it out of my home and into yours if you really want to make something out of it. If more than one would like it I'll draw from a hat :)) Let's make the deadline Sunday October 26, and I'll post on Monday October 27.

And thank you for all the well-wishes on "Million Dollar Quartet". It's going strong with sold-out houses, and moves to the Apollo on October 31. We also had our very first preview of "Baby It's You", at the Coast Playhouse in West Hollywood yesterday. A fantastic experience. My little DD is now singing Shirelles day and night, with a few Chuck Jackson and The Isley Brothers thrown in for good measure...

  1. I happen to love brown, more than black. And so all my accessories, i.e. shoes, belts, etc. are brownish (think classic Italian leather).
I think the fabric looks gorgeous in the picture. And if you really don't want to keep it, I'd be more than happy to take it.

  4. Gorgeous fabric, and yes, I wear brown but no black, so I can imagine how disappointed you were when it arrived because it's truly lovely. I'd be glad to be in the drawing, too!

  6. Okay, you don't need to enter me in the drawing because I have bouclé coming out of my ears. But I wish you were making a Chanelish coat as planned because that's what I'm attempting now. I'm playing around with trims and pockets and Chanel touches, and would love to see what you would have done to a coat. I need inspiration! Right now it just looks like a whole lot of bouclé....

  7. OK, You must put my name in that hat. I wish I could commit to either brown or black - it would make life (and space) so much easier. I used to be a black only girl, but I got sick of it. Now I'm doing both. Too bad on the fabric - I know you would do something fabulous with it. So, add me to the list of potential takers :-)

  9. Well, the fabric is gorgeous and I love brown. In fact I love it more than I realized.

Funny but true story: I have a small notebook where I keep scraps of fabrics I've sewn and when I did a small survey, I realized my top 2 colors were fuschia (and that's the new "in" color, right?) and BROWN.

In fact, I've sewn about 5 different outfits in various BROWN fabrics in the last 4-5 years...

So add my name to the hat, please!

  15. I have been on a made search for a great boucle. Please add me to the list! I greatly appreciate it. I am on a jacket making frenzy...or at least attempting. I want to replicate this one---http://tessuti.blogspot.com/2008/10/post-for-cindy.html

  16. Love the brown! Years ago I only wore black - now that I've added (many) more colors to my wardrobe, it seems brown is one of my base neutrals - please add my name to the hat!

  17. I was just searching for a Chanel-ish boucle and thought of your recent jacket and decided to maneuver my way over to your site. I would love a chance at this fabric as the colors are very suitable to my complexion.

  18. Lately there have been such incredibly generous bloggers! I must say that I am definitely a "brown" girl - my hair is espresso brown and thus most of my outwear is dark brown. One of my fall goals was to sew a Chanel-style boucle suit but I haven't found one I'd liked until you posted about yours! So please, add my name to your hat...
